Coronavirus has been declared as a pandemic by WHO which means that this virus will spread around the world. Coronavirus Prevention is what we need to know well.

Many countries have already got a lot of cases of coronavirus and people are scared to step out of their houses. Governments of many countries have even announced closures of schools, universities, and workplaces. People are mostly working from home. Here are a few things you need to know about the coronavirus.

What is Coronavirus?

As per WHO, Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a new strain that was discovered in 2019 and has not been previously identified in humans.

Coronavirus prevention is a serious thing that people should be aware of.

How did Coronavirus start?

As per Telegraph.co.uk: The source of the coronavirus is believed to be a “wet market” in Wuhan which sold both dead and live animals including fish and birds.

Such markets pose a heightened risk of viruses jumping from animals to humans because hygiene standards are difficult to maintain if live animals are being kept and butchered on-site. Typically, they are also densely packed.

The animal source of the latest outbreak has not yet been identified, but the original host is thought to be bats. Bats were not sold at the Wuhan market but may have infected live chickens or other animals sold there.

Symptoms of Coronavirus

People may experience:

  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Pneumonia
  • Difficulty breathing (severe cases)

In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death.

Coronavirus Prevention Measures

  • Wash your hands frequently: Regularly wash your hands with soap and water. If you are outside your house, you should keep alcohol-based hand rub with you and regularly use it. The virus spreads as soon as you touch the surface where there is the presence of the virus. Washing your hands regularly ensures that you keep getting rid of the infection.
  • Avoid Social Gatherings: You should avoid going to places with huge social gatherings in order to avoid getting in contact with the virus.
  • Prevent Travelling: Try avoiding any travel plans if not urgent.
