Dry hair is the problem which many people faces. Everyone wants shiny and strong hair but lack of nutrients in your diet can cause hair damage in the long run. If you have noticed, small kids have strong and shiny hair. They do not face a lot of hair fall, dullness etc. All this comes with the increasing age. Fortunately, there are some home remedies/tips which you can use for healthy and shiny hair.

What are the causes of dry hair?

Dry hair occurs when your hair does not carry enough moisture. The causes of dry hair can be:

  1. Lack of Nutrients in your diet
  2. Application of too much chemical on your hair
  3. Spending a lot of time in sun
  4. Dry and hot climate where you stay
  5. Washing hair too often
  6. Styling your hair too often i.e. blow dry, hair straightening etc.

What are the tips for getting strong, shiny hair?

  1. Eat Nutrient Rich Food: The very first and important tip to have healthy, strong and shiny hair is to eat the right food. If you eat healthy food, it ensures that you are getting enough nutrition for your hair too. Ensure that you are getting enough protein. Hair is made up of protein so you need good amount in your diet to ensure they are healthy.
  2. Use yogurt: Apply plain yogurt to your hair and leave them for 20-30 minutes. After that wash them with some good shampoo and conditioner. Yogurt conditions your hair.
  3. Use Aloe-Vera: Aloe Vera gel is said to be good for your skin and your hair. You can even grow an aloe vera plant in your own garden or even a pot. Cut a piece of it, peel it and extract the gel from it. Apply this gel in your hair, leave it from some time and then wash.
  4. Regular Hair Trimming: Regular hair trimming specially the end of hair is necessary to ensure that they stay healthy and there are no split ends. Split ends make your hair look more unhealthy and dry.
  5. Avoid Too Many Chemicals: Try to avoid putting on a lot of chemicals on your hair. If you go for regular styling of hair and use dryers, straighteners, and other chemicals, ensure that you are washing your hair after using chemicals.
  6. Hibiscus Leaves Extract: Remove the extract from hibiscus leaves and apply them on your hair. Leave it from some time and then wash.
  7. Regular Coconut Oil Massage: Apply coconut oil on your hair regularly – at least once a week to avoid dry hair. If you have an oily scalp, avoid putting too much of oil on your scalp and nourish your hair with it. Leave hair oil over night or atleast for couple of hours and then wash them.
  8. Brushing Up Your Hair: Try to keep your hair tangle free all the time. Tangled hair leads to breaking up of hair from middle, hair loss etc. To ensure you do not face these issues, brush your hair at least 2-3 times a day. It is always a good idea to sleep with your hair tied up in the night.
