Chilli plants grow into small to medium-sized bushes. They grow mostly in tropical or subtropical regions. They have the capacity for self-pollination. The flowers and fruits of the plant grow very fast. The fruit, the chilli peppers, vary widely in size, color, and shape and is widely used in Indian cooking.

Grow your own chilli plant:

If you are planning to grow your own chilli plant, you need to keep into consideration that the plant needs a hot environment with proper sunlight to grow and produce good fruits. You can either plan to produce it in either pot, garden, or in grow-bags.

Select the Soil:

You need well-drained and fertile soil in order to grow a good chilli plant. Ensure that you select the right soil.

Growing Procedure:

Growing in Pot – If you are growing the chilli plant in pot, ensure that you select a good drainage pot.

Seedling Tray – If you are growing in the seedling tray, take the soil and mix it properly, now put it in the seedling tray, now put 3-4 seeds of chilli inside each cell of the tray. Ensure that the seed is covered with the soil. Put a few drops of water into every cell to keep the soil moist. You need to keep the tray indoor and follow the watering mechanism every day.

Grow Black Bags: When growing in these bags, but in the good soil put seeds at some distance and follow the same process as in the seedling tray.

Once the plant is visible and a little bit, shift it to pots.

How to take care of your Chilli Plant

1- The chilli plant prefers sunlight. You can even keep them in a sunny window.

2- They can be grown in pots or directly in the ground soil. 

3- Selection of soil is not a difficult task as they are adaptable to various types of soil. Just ensure to select a fertile soil

4- The plant needs regular watering but not over flooding as it can rot the roots. 2-3 times a week is good enough for the plant.

5- Fertilisers can be used for the growth of the plant but, avoid using chemical fertilizers. 

6- You might need to provide support to your plant as the branches are most of the times weak.

7- The plants will first form a flower which in few days change into fruits.

8- Pests can be a problem with chilli plants, so you need to observe from time to time if your plant has got pest problem.

9- If you love gardening, you can try growing the plants from the seeds.

10- Chilli fruit can be left for longer time on the plant and once it is fully ready, you can use the seeds of the fruit to grow more plants.
