Dark circles under the eye are a common thing between men & women. In some situations, dark circles appear to be more visible which might make you seem older than your age. If you don’t take care of them appropriately the situation may get worsen for you, making them difficult to remove. Although it is most common in elder people, or in some cases it may be seen in people young cases which might get them due to genetics or heredity.

Causes of Dark Circles

There can be a lot of different factors of dark circles depending upon different situations.

Fatigue: Feeling of fatigue, and uneven sleep timings, can cause dark circles under your eyes. Sleep deficiency can result in the skin becoming dull, which may increase the dark circles underneath your skin to be more visible.

Age: Age is one of the most common causes which can form dark circles under your eyes since getting older with the age makes the skin thin and you can develop dark circles easily.

Digital time: If you spend more time watching digital devices like Television, mobile, or laptop so this can increase the strain on your eyes which may result in headaches and even dark circles.

Genetics: Genetics is also one of the most common reasons for getting dark circles, you may witness them if they are in your genes. In these cases, the dark circles may appear at the beginning of childhood making the situation even worse, or better till you get in your teenager.

Allergy: Generally certain allergies may cause eye sickness which may make your eyes puffy when your body gets an allergy the body in response releases histamines to cure the allergy. Histamines are one of the reasons which make dark circles more visible beneath your eyes.

Dehydration: It is one of the common causes of dark circles when your body remains dehydrated or you drink water below the required limit so this can result in dull eyes and dark circles if you don’t take appropriate care.

Overexposure to sunlight: When your body gets more exposure to sunlight, it starts producing the chemical melanin which has a role to provide your skin color. Thus the effects of excess melanin start showing around your eyes causing dark circles.

Dark circles can be cured at home if you know the right cause behind them, and by making a few lifestyle changes. We recommend a list of remedies that you can refer to and find some quick results.

Apply ice cubes: You can try to wrap a few pieces of ice cubes in a clean cotton cloth and apply it to your eyes for 15 to 20 minutes for the best results. You must ensure that the cloth remains cold and add ice cubes if the ice melts till you complete the process. This process helps in reducing swollen eyes and removing dark circles eventually.

Quality sleep: Generally, in most cases, it is seen that people with uneven sleep timings or people who don’t complete their sleep in one go face this problem. So, we would encourage you all to target a sleep time of 7 to 8 hours and try sleeping in one go, which means that if you sleep for 4 hours 2 times a day so this won’t help you with the dark circles.

Apply tea bags: Tea bags are a good source of antioxidants and caffeine, which can enhance your blood flow and shrink blood vessels below your eyes. You can soak 2 tea bags in hot water for 5 minutes, and then put them in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes. Once they are chilled in the refrigerator take them out and use closed eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. Once you complete this process wash your eyes with cold water before you open them.
