Types of Pneumonia

Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) – CAP is the most common type of pneumonia caused by viruses or bacteria. ‘Walking pneumonia’ caused by the bacteria Mycoplasma pneumonia is a less severe type of pneumonia categorized under Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP).
Hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) – People can affect HAP during or after hospitalization or stay in hospital. It is caused when the person is exposed to bacteria.
Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) – VAP is pneumonia which may affect people who are on a ventilator machine.
